"Hands of Humanity" - 2021-Present
What are the functions (and limitations) of the human hand, both as a tool and as a form of communication?
I remember the first time I printed out my images and organized them into a portfolio. The recurring note I'd receive from anyone who looked through my work was, "Wow, you shoot a lot of hands!" I never considered hands to be a deliberate source of inspiration for me, but after looking through my work and the work of others that I'm drawn to, I recognize that I'm intrinsically drawn towards attention to detail.
"Hands of Humanity" is a series of various selected photographs that reflect a demonstration of the human hand. It is an ongoing body of work that explores the intimate dance between human hands and the world around us. Whether they be engaged to fix, build, give, nurture, communicate, craft, or love, how do our hands aid in the expression and evolution of our species? As we continue to seek what it means to be human, my hope is that we remain grateful for the care imbedded within the origins of our surroundings, and cognizant of the power that resides at our fingertips.
