"Residual Reverie: Plate and Table Narratives" - 2024-Present
"Residual Reverie: Plate and Table Narratives" is an on-going photographic exploration of the remnants of dining experiences. Through a series of images shot on iPhone, this series depicts the intricacies of post-meal plates and table settings. Each photograph offers a glimpse into the experience of a meal, whether that be through imprints of sauces, the traces of unwanted veggies, or plates wiped spotless by the indulgent. These residual artifacts serve as poetic testaments to the unique narratives woven during moments of shared -or solitary- sustenance.
This series is meant to challenge conventional perspectives on food, inviting viewers to consider the connection between nourishment and human intervention, and to think about the unspoken narratives that reside in the subtle traces of our culinary encounters. What can a finished plate say about the experience of a meal?
"Residual Reverie" reflects my curiosity towards the transformative power of photography, and its ability to prompt alternative perceptions in the often overlooked and mundane "residue" of our daily lives.
